Our Approach

At ClearWater Psychotherapy we believe that every person possesses the capacity to enact change in their lives.  Most people get "stuck" at times.  They may not know what they want to change, what the source of their trouble might be, or how to create the change they envision. We use our expertise to help people answer these questions and work towards leading more fulfilling lives.

People aren't responsible for the hand they were dealt but, everyone can overcome obstacles and move in the direction of healing. People are best able to work towards positive change when they feel safe, supported, and respected. We strive to create such an environment; one in which people can explore their challenges as well as their strengths.  Our approach is collaborative, creative, and hopeful.

The type of therapeutic approaches used in treatment are tailored to meet the needs and styles of the client.  Psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral (CBT), EMDR (Eye Movement and Desensitization and Reprocessing)Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT) as well as Hypnotherapy, Brainspotting, Internal Family Systems, and Narrative Therapy are examples of modalities we use.  If you have questions about any of these therapies, please do not hesitate to ask us.

Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul.
And sings the tune
Without the words,
and never stops at all.
